For more than 30 years, Shenelle Ball-Green has cared for women and men behind the barber chair. She has listened to their concerns, answered their questions, and seen how something as personal as scalp care can affect how people feel about themselves.

Sometimes, that concern sounds like, “My scalp feels dry.”

Other times, it sounds like, “I stopped wearing black,” or “I hope nobody notices.”

Behind those words is a person who deserves understanding.

Shenelle saw how often attention went to the finished hairstyle while the scalp—and the feelings connected to it—received less attention. She wanted to make room for both.

That belief became the heart of Head Care.

A Professional Purpose. A Mother’s Motivation.

The vision became even more personal at home.

Shenelle’s son lives with severe chronic eczema and multiple botanical and dairy sensitivities. Finding products he could tolerate was often frustrating. Ingredient lists required careful attention, and questions about how products were manufactured added another layer to the search.

That experience deepened her commitment to understanding ingredients, studying formulation, and making thoughtful product choices.

It also taught her something she carries into Head Care today: an ingredient that works for one person may not work for another. People deserve clear information and room to make informed choices.

In 2023, Shenelle began developing The Barber House Brand. On February 14, 2026, that vision officially launched, with Head Care as its first collection.

Its purpose was clear: bring the scalp to the forefront of the grooming routine while caring about the person behind the concern.

Different Ingredients. Thoughtful Choices.

Head Care began with the Botanical Complex, developed with carefully selected botanical ingredients.

Her son’s sensitivities continued to remind Shenelle that personal care could never follow a single formula for everyone. She went on to develop the Fruit Complex, offering another ingredient approach for customers to explore.

Both collections contain ingredients that may be unsuitable for some individuals. They offer choices based on ingredients and preferences; neither is an allergy-free alternative.

For Shenelle, thoughtful care includes helping customers understand what they are choosing. That means making ingredient information available and encouraging customers to consider their individual sensitivities before use.

The goal is to serve people thoughtfully, with care and clear information.

We Understand the Moment Behind the Flakes.

The shoulder check before class.

The brush-off before a client meeting.

The hesitation before putting on a dark shirt.

The uncomfortable feeling when someone points out what you already know is there.

These moments can happen to women and men, whether they wear long hair, a close cut, locs, or a bald head.

At Head Care, we recognize that visible flakes can carry an emotional weight. Nobody should have to feel ashamed while seeking care for their scalp.

That’s why our message begins with understanding:

No pointing. No laughing. No shame.

Our products are created to support cleansing, hydration, and conditioning within a scalp-care routine. Our approach makes room for questions, education, and kindness.

Built with Purpose

Head Care grew from more than three years of ingredient research and product development, followed by four months of customer-use testing and feedback.

Throughout that process, Shenelle remained focused on everyday needs: how products fit into a routine, how customers experience them, and what information helps people use them thoughtfully.

That work continues through three guiding principles:

Thoughtful Ingredients
Ingredients selected with their intended purpose and everyday use in mind, with clear information to help customers make informed decisions.

Scalp-First Care
Giving the scalp attention as an essential part of grooming—for women and men.

Understanding the Person
Listening to concerns and respecting the feelings that come with them.
